Qarar: Why did the Taliban cover up the Siāh Sang bombing?

Kabul – In a series of claims made by Afghan political analyst Majidullah Qarar, serious allegations have been leveled against both the Taliban and Pakistan regimes regarding an alleged mass killing in Siāh Sang.
According to Mr. Qarar, dozens of individuals—detained by the Taliban authorities precisely because of their known opposition to Pakistan—were killed in Siāh Sang as a result of targeted Pakistani action. He asserts that the precise coordinates of these detainees were deliberately provided to Pakistani authorities by individuals he refers to as “Kabul Punjabis”, the Taliban.
Qarar further notes that the Taliban have imprisoned thousands of people across Afghanistan identified as opponents of Pakistan. He claims that a significant number of these detainees were subsequently massacred in the Siāh Sang incident, an event he alleges has been deliberately concealed by the current Taliban regime.
The commentator described Afghanistan as effectively under Pakistani occupation and accused members of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s political party operating in Kabul of actively participating in the cover-up. According to Qarar, the motive behind this suppression is to prevent a further rise in anti-Pakistan sentiment among the Afghan population.
In his strongest statement, Majidullah Qarar maintained that there is effectively no distinction between the Taliban leadership and what he termed “Punjabis,” framing both, the Taliban and Pakistan, as aligned in interest and action. He concluded by issuing a public appeal to Afghans, urging national unity and collective action to liberate Afghan territory from the influence of both “white and black Punjabis”—a phrase apparently intended to encompass perceived the Taliban and Pakistan.
Majidullah Qarar’s remarks reflect a growing undercurrent of frustration among segments of the Afghan population and diaspora concerning sovereignty, security cooperation, and the handling of political prisoners since the Taliban’s return to power.
